Job Description:
This is a lending position involving extensive knowledge of a full range of residential mortgage products, guidelines and compliance issues. This position has the overall responsibility for developing and servicing residential mortgage loans which involves a high level of discretion and independent judgment.
Interviews loan applicants. Collects and analyzes information regarding customer income, assets, investments or debts. Determines which residential mortgage products best meet the customer's needs and financial circumstances. Provide advice to customer regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different products.
Makes preliminary determination of applicant's credit worthiness and has authority to issue prequalification statement of borrower's eligibility.
Assist where applicable, applicants in receiving down payment assistance through various programs. Have thorough knowledge of subsidy programs to better assist home buyers.
Attend community meetings which effect assisting in getting low income home buyers into homes.
Call on realtors, builders, community development corporations, municipalities and other potential mortgage customers to establish relationships for loan referrals.
Handle processing of requests in accordance with Bank policy and applicable regulatory requirements as well as secondary market criteria and guidelines.
Adheres to Quality Customer Service parameters. Conform with and abide by written policies and procedures for the Bank.
Participate in community events and real estate industry functions to identify, develop and promote additional business.
Maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the local and national real estate market in order to provide feedback to management.
Keep abreast of local, national, economic, financial, political, legislative events and climates which could have an impact on residential lending activities.
Advise management of new products offered in the market to ensure the bank remains competitive.
Promote and cross-sell other Bank products.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in business or finance or related field; or equivalent experience.
Minimum of two to three years mortgage origination experience and is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate policies, procedures and objectives effectively throughout the Bank and to represent the bank positively to the public.
Must be able to quickly and effectively respond to customer inquiries and requests in demanding environment.
Must have strong analytical skills to perform thorough, detailed and independent examinations of all loan documents.
Must be able to have sufficient knowledge of office equipment and computer technology to operate programs and equipment within the lending department.
